MECHLAB Terms of Use

These terms apply to MECHLAB and the free MECHLAB Demo (together, "the game"), made by Schreyer Data & Automation LLC ("we", "us"). By installing or playing the game you agree to them. You also remain bound by the Meta Horizon Store terms and the Meta Platforms Technologies terms that apply to your Meta account; if they conflict with these terms on anything about the store, your account or payment, Meta's terms apply.

1. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the game on Meta Quest devices linked to your Meta account, for your own non-commercial entertainment. You get a licence to play; you don't buy the game's code, art, audio or other content.

You may not, except where the law expressly allows it:

• copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the game or its files;
• reverse engineer, decompile or modify it, or make derivative works from it;
• remove copyright or other notices;
• use the game or its content to train machine-learning models.

2. The Demo

The Demo is free and contains part of the game. We may change it, stop offering it or remove it at any time. The Demo is a separate app, so its progress is saved separately and does not carry over to the full game.

3. Online play

Online 1 vs 1 matches (LAN and internet rooms) are provided "as available". Internet play depends on third-party services (Unity Gaming Services) and may be changed, limited or discontinued, for example when a game version is too old to connect.

When you play online you agree not to:

• cheat, use modified clients, exploit bugs to gain an advantage or disrupt other players' matches;
• attack, overload, probe or interfere with the game's online services or Unity's infrastructure;
• use the game in any way that breaks the law or harms other people.

We may block access to online features for anyone who breaks these rules.

4. Videos and streaming

You may stream the game, post gameplay videos and screenshots, and monetise them on video platforms, as long as you don't present the footage as official material from us or use it in a way that suggests we endorse you. Please don't publish leaked or unreleased content.

5. Health and safety

Read and follow all health and safety warnings for your Meta Quest device. Play in a clear space, take breaks, and stop if you feel discomfort, dizziness or eye strain. The game supports seated and standing play; stay aware of your surroundings.

6. Ownership

The game and all of its content (including characters, mechs, arenas, logos, art, music and code) belong to Schreyer Data & Automation LLC or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. "MECHLAB" and its logo are trademarks of Schreyer Data & Automation LLC. Third-party components are used under their own licences; see the game's credits and the third-party notices at https://collin-schreyer.github.io/mechlab-site/notices/.

7. Updates and changes

We may update, patch or change the game, including to fix bugs, rebalance parts or add or remove features. We may update these terms; if a change is significant, we'll post the new version on https://collin-schreyer.github.io/mechlab-site/terms and update the effective date. If you keep playing after that, you accept the new terms.

8. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, the game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the game will be error-free or that online services will always be available. Some jurisdictions don't allow these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing here limits consumer rights you have under law that cannot be waived.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the game. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the game in the twelve months before the claim (which is zero for the Demo) or USD 50, whichever is greater. This does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

10. Ending this licence

You can stop at any time by uninstalling the game. We may end your licence if you seriously break these terms. Sections 6, 8, 9 and 11 survive.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you may also have the benefit of mandatory protections in the country where you live, and you may be able to bring a claim in your local courts.

12. Refunds

Purchases and refunds are handled by the Meta Horizon Store under Meta's refund policy.
